Helsinki Cafe and the Susanville Symphony
The prison warden and the Russian opera singer and Helsinki Cafe - a love story in Susanville. The symphony, has become Susanville's heart and soul, attracting 1,000 people to each concert nearly a third of the town's non-prison population. Video by Manny Crisostomo mcrisostomo@sacbee.com

We, regular Russia Saint-Petersburg opera spectators, will never forget prima donna Ludmila’s voice in our favorite stages in the Northern musical capital of the world. We really miss her but we a glad to see her in the new workplace and listen to the new beautiful sounds of her wonderful strong tender voice from the American Helsinky cafe by video!

When a place deserves a symphony, it is big enough - not geographically but culturally, even if its non-prison population counts up to 1000... and this is solely due to Matt and Liudmila. Well, and SacBee too, of course! Especially nice that a smell, or flavor, or odor, of Northeast Europe (the other side of the globe!) is so clearly felt at the other side of Sierra Nevada!

This is beatiful romantic story which shows that if you choose a job you love and find yourself in life, the world around you will change for the better. This video proves that there are no borders and distances for true art.Only music is able to bring together opera singer and prison warden in "Helsinki Cafe".Lyusia and Matt, we always welcome the opportunity to see your new joint works!
